Good to know

PrusaSlicer is Prusa Research's open-source slicer for both FDM and mSLA printers. It combines precise per-object and per-layer controls with multi-material tools, multiple beds, a detailed preview and several ways to send finished jobs.

Where it fits

It fits mixed printer fleets particularly well because the Configuration Wizard includes many third-party profiles while custom profiles remain importable.

Install and update note

Get the regular build from Prusa's download page or official releases. Current official Linux distribution is through Flathub; alpha and beta builds keep separate configuration locations, but export critical presets before testing them.

Common questions

Can PrusaSlicer be used with non-Prusa printers?

Yes. The official FAQ says profiles for many manufacturers are included in the Configuration Wizard, and other profiles can be imported manually.

Check the source ↗
Does a PrusaSlicer update delete custom profiles?

The official FAQ says updates create profile snapshots. The configuration folder can be opened from Help, and the snapshots folder is the first place to check after an unwanted change.

Check the source ↗
Does PrusaSlicer handle resin as well as filament printing?

Yes. The official project description supports both FDM and mSLA workflows. Select the matching technology and printer profile because their output formats and settings differ.

Check the source ↗
Can PrusaSlicer be used without its graphical interface?

Yes. The official feature list includes a command-line interface for automation. A GUI-created profile can provide the settings needed for repeatable scripted slicing.

Export your custom profiles before installing. Keep that export alongside a working project.

A quick check before installing
0/3

A project file is not an installer

A .3mf file holds model or project data. Opening it does not install the slicer. After opening a project, check the printer, nozzle and material settings.

Check the official requirements

Files are hosted by the developers. Before installing, check their system requirements and release notes. A file labelled for your platform does not establish the minimum OS version.
