Uniform model scaling

See how a uniform scale changes the dimensions and solid volume of a model.

When this helps

See how a uniform scale changes the dimensions and solid volume of a model. Start with Original X dimension; this calculator reports Scaled X dimension.

Method

New dimension = original × scale ÷ 100. Solid volume multiplier = (scale ÷ 100)³.

Worked example

Example inputs

Original X dimension
50 mm
Original Y dimension
40 mm
Original Z dimension
30 mm
Uniform scale
125 %

Calculated outputs

Scaled X dimension
62.5 mm
Scaled Y dimension
50 mm
Scaled Z dimension
37.5 mm
Solid volume multiplier
1.953125 ratio

How to read the result

With these example inputs, Scaled X dimension is 62.5 mm. Use that value for the setting or decision named above, and read the other outputs as supporting checks.

Common mistake

Do not leave Original X dimension at the example value of 50 mm unless it matches your own measurement.

Assumptions and limits

Volume refers to solid geometry. Fixed walls, infill, supports and layer settings mean printed mass and time do not necessarily follow that multiplier.
