Dimensional compensation

Calculate separate axis scales and the remaining-size percentages used by shrinkage settings.

When this helps

Calculate separate axis scales and the remaining-size percentages used by shrinkage settings. Start with Target X dimension; this calculator reports X compensation scale.

Method

Compensation scale = target ÷ measured × 100%. Remaining-size percentage = measured ÷ target × 100%.

Worked example

Example inputs

Target X dimension
100 mm
Measured X dimension
99 mm
Target Y dimension
100 mm
Measured Y dimension
99.5 mm
Target Z dimension
100 mm
Measured Z dimension
100 mm

Calculated outputs

X compensation scale
101.010101 %
Y compensation scale
100.502513 %
Z compensation scale
100 %
X remaining-size percentage
99 %
Y remaining-size percentage
99.5 %
Z remaining-size percentage
100 %

How to read the result

With these example inputs, X compensation scale is 101.010101 %. Use that value for the setting or decision named above, and read the other outputs as supporting checks.

Common mistake

Do not leave Target X dimension at the example value of 100 mm unless it matches your own measurement.

Assumptions and limits

These are different settings: Orca uses one shared XY shrinkage field, not separate X and Y fields. Use comparable material and profiles; this does not diagnose the cause or change motor steps.
