Bambu Studio V2.8.4 Beta brings a series of user experience improvements. This version focuses on optimizing the UI and performance of texture import, adding prompts in model deletion scenarios to help prevent accidental operations, and improving the smoothness of both the Cut tool and Device page switching.
On the slicing engine side, this release optimizes the printing path for the top surface monotonic line infill pattern, reducing travel moves during printing. The more detailed the top surface of a model is, the more noticeable the improvement will be.
You can download the Flathub version for Linux from Bambu Studio on Flathub ↗ The Flathub version is maintained by @hadess ; thanks to him for his outstanding work.
For users on macOS 27 and macOS 26 who experience lagging or freezing issues on the Device tab, please use version 02.08.04.61.
Note: 3MF files saved in the Beta version are temporarily not supported for upload to MakerWorld. If you need to upload, please use the official release version.
Improvements
Optimized Texture Import with Improved UI Interaction and Stability
This version includes several improvements to the texture import workflow, enhancing import efficiency, user experience, and result stability:
- Improved model repair speed during texture import.
- Optimized UI interactions and improved the automatic filament matching logic.
- The original model's rendering was changed from texture-map rendering to high-precision facet color rendering, so the preview now more closely matches the actual printed result.
Optimized Top Surface Monotonic Line Infill Path to Reduce Travel Moves
This version optimizes the printing path for the top surface monotonic line infill pattern, reducing travel moves during printing and improving print efficiency.
The improvement is more noticeable on models with more detailed and complex top surfaces.
Before After
Added a Prompt When Filament Shrinkage Compensation Is Not Applied to Painted Models
When slicing painted models, using different shrinkage compensation settings for different filaments may cause the final model dimensions to differ from expectations. Therefore, in this scenario, the slicing engine does not apply filament shrinkage compensation parameters by default.
When the shrinkage factor in the material settings is not the default value of 100%, and the current plate contains painted models, Bambu Studio will now display an informational prompt indicating that filament shrinkage compensation will not take effect in this scenario. image
Other Improvements
- Optimized the loading speed of the Device page, reducing the waiting time after entering the page.
- Improved the UI interactions and visual design of the AMS settings area on the Device page.
- Optimized the performance of the Cut tool, making dovetail cutting operations smoother.
- When deleting a filament that is already used by a model, Bambu Studio will now show a prompt firstly to help prevent accidental deletion and unexpected filament reset on the model.
- When sending a model imported from MakerWorld to the print, Bambu Studio will now use the user's current project name instead of the original configuration name.
- Improved the text input experience in the Text tool, adding support for line breaks with Enter and line spacing control. (PR #12176 ↗). Thanks to @jeremykenedy.
- Show a warning message when only non-printable objects are left on the plate (#11849 ↗).
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a security issue caused by a stack buffer overflow in ADMesh stl_read. (PR #12153 ↗). Thanks to @MAVProxyUser.
- Fixed an issue where the source code could not be built correctly in certain build environments. (PR #11895 ↗). Thanks to @hadess.
- Fixed an issue where, in some cases, the first-layer print height was incorrect when printing with Raft enabled in Vase Mode. (PR #11965 ↗). Thanks to @mvanhorn.
- Fixed "Open in Bambu Studio" not working on aarch64 and cURL 8.x (PR #11804 ↗). Thanks to @hadess.

- Fixed the issue where a popup could not be closed after syncing on macOS (#11983 ↗).
- Fixed the issue where translucent filament was displayed as black in dark mode (#11376 ↗).
- Fixed a potential crash during slicing (#10626 ↗).
- Fixed a potential crash on macOS (#11265 ↗).
